Beijing Declaration and the Platform for Action

The Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995 marked a significant turning point for the global agenda for gender equality with the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action sets strategic objectives and actions for the advancement of women and the achievement of gender equality in 12 critical areas of concern. The areas of concerns range from poverty, education and violence to media, economy, decision-making and women's human rights. The implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action is reviewed every five years by UN Women together with UN Member States.

Austria's most recent national reporting started at the end of 2023, and a stakeholder dialogue was held in Vienna on 20 March 2024 as part of the report preparation process.

The Austrian implementation report on Beijing+30 is available for download in German and English.
