Security Policy

The Federal Chancellery coordinates all Austrian security strategy measures at national, European and international level.

Austrian security policy covers all measures at national, European and international level aimed at:

actively shaping a security-relevant situation that is advantageous for Austria and its population and for the European Union as a whole,
preventing threats from arising or being carried out,
providing protection from and handling threats.

The National Security Council is the central advisory body to the Federal Government in matters of foreign, security and defence policy.
