Accreditation for events
Media employees can use the centralised online accreditation system to be accredited for events of the Austrian Federal Government and the Office of the Austrian Federal President.
The central accreditation system of the Federal Chancellery provides you with the opportunity to register online for all large-scale events of the Federal Government and the Austrian Presidential Office that require it. Registrations should be made as early as possible – but no later than the time specified in the announcement sent to your media company regarding the respective event.
Online accreditation for certain events
For your first accreditation with our system you are requested to register and enter your personal data. Kindly enter your email address and a personal password and answer a security question as required by the registration form. Subsequently complete the media accreditation form (application form).
To complete the process successfully you are required to attach a recent digital colored photograph on which you are perfectly recognizable. Please do not use a scan from a document as this will not give the required image quality. In the registration form fill in the data of your valid press card. Instead of your press card you may also attach a letter from your media organisation confirming your personal assignment for the particular event. These attachments must be sent in jpg (for the photograph), doc or pdf format. Processing of your application is only possible if all information is complete.
Please don’t forget to tick the event you want to attend in the list of events.
Note: The application form only has to be filled in once. Your personal password allows you to change or add data to your application form at any time (e.g. register for another event).

Issue of badges
A separate accreditation badge is issued for each event. This badge then allows you to attend all the parts of the agenda set up in the letter to your media organisation. The badge will only be handed out upon presentation of a valid press card or the original letter of assignment from your media organisation. The badge is non-transferable and must always be worn visibly during the event. Furthermore, you must be ready to prove identity at all times by means of an official photo ID.
Please collect your accreditation badge at the times given in the letter to your media organisation at the

Exceptional Ad-hoc Media Accreditation
For an exceptional ad-hoc media accreditation at the Media Accreditation Office of the Federal Chancellery, you will need:
- an official photo ID (ID card, passport)
- a valid press card or the original letter of assignment from your media company.
Please note that ad-hoc accreditations may result in longer waiting times.
Permanent admission card 2025
A permanent admission card is reserved for those media representatives who regularly, i.e. several times a month, participate in public media events of the Federal Chancellery, the Office of the Federal President and the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to report on current political issues. Your residency in Austria is a prerequisite.
When applying for your permanent admission card, please provide evidence of your journalistic activities. To do this, include the details of your valid press ID in the application (number and issuing body) or upload a letter of assignment signed by your editor-in-chief, which confirms your requirement for a permanent accreditation card.
Important Note
We point out that your data will be subject to both a factual and a security review.
If you work for an Austrian or foreign medium, we will check whether you are a media employee within the meaning of § 1 Paragraph 1 Z 11 Media Law. Regardless of the legal form of your medium, compliance with § 24 (Imprint) and § 25 (Disclosure) will also be checked for Austrian media. For foreign media, information about the responsible media owner and possible share-ownerships may need to be provided. If you are a foreign correspondent, the relevant provisions of the Foreigners Act (especially the Settlement and Residence Act, BGBl. I No. 100/2005 as amended) apply.
Proof of your journalistic activity on current political topics may be required if necessary.
The legal basis for the security check is § 55a Paragraph 1 Security Police Act, Federal Law Gazette No. 566/1991 as amended.
Since May 25, 2018, your data has been subject to the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016, on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data, on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (GDPR) as well as the Data Protection Act as amended by the Data Protection Amendment Act (Datenschutzgesetz) of May 25, 2018. As a user, you consent to the processing of data in line with this declaration.
The Federal Chancellery reserves the right not to grant you accreditation for factual or security reasons. Misuse will result in the card being revoked.
